Expected results have been mixed with a sound upset during a well-packed card, promoted by Alexey Kubare of Bupas Promotions on September 20 in Vladikavkaz, the capital of Ossetia, Russia.
In the main event, lightweight power hitter Roman Andreev acquired a vacant WBO I/C title by stopping experienced Filipino Rolando Magbanua (26-5, 18 KOs) in five rounds. After a heated opening, Andreev started to take over. The end came in round five, when Magbanua was dropped on a knee with an assortment of hard body blows. He failed to beat the count in time. Andreev, meanwhile, improves to 18-0, with 13 KOs.
Local favorite Georgy Chelokhsaev was successful in a two-round drubbing of Tanzanian Meschack Mwakemwa (10-2-2, 5 KOs), retaining his WBO Youth super lightweight title for the first time. Mwakemwa was down twice in round one. He is now 10-1-1, 8 KOs.
In an absolute stunner, previously undefeated lightweight kayo artist Soslan Tedeev was stopped in five by totally unheralded novice Ivan Skripachev, who was 0-1 coming into this fight. The local hero was down once in the first and twice in the fifth round. He is now 13-1, 10 KOs.
Also, 20-year old Nikita Miroschnichenko (6-0, 1 KOs) just barely beat Adam Nalgiev (1-2, 1 KO) with a majority decision over six rounds.
