WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (27-0, 14KOs) has announced that he's scheduled to return on June 20th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. No opponent or network has been set. It will be Ward’s first fight since an HBO televised November 2013 decision win over Edwin Rodriguez.

Ward's career had stalled while he made several attempts to break a promotional contract with Goossen Promotions. Eventually the two sides settled and Ward inked an agreement earlier this year with Roc Nation Sports.

The WBA recently ordered Ward to make a mandatory defense against Carl Froch, who held the WBA 'regular' title at 168. But now the fight with Felix Sturm and Fedor Chudinov, on May 9th, is potentially being upgraded from a WBA-interim title to a 'regular' title fight. There is plenty of confusion with the multiple titles the WBA issues out within the same division.
