Super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13KOs) may soon find himself in the middle of a possible fight between his brother, Anthony Dirrell (23-0, 20KOs), and a close family friend, Andre Ward (24-0, 13KOs).
In 2010, Andre Dirrell was scheduled to face Ward in the third stage of the Super Six tournament. The fight was canceled when Andre Dirrell withdrew due to lingering injuries from his disqualification win over Arthur Abraham in March 2010.
Now Andre's young brother, Anthony, is sitting in the number one position in the WBC's super middleweight rankings.
Both Dirrell brothers expect Ward, the WBA champion, to defeat WBC champion Carl Froch in their scheduled Super Six unification, which likely takes place on December 10th.
Provided Ward wins in December, Anthony would find himself in line for a shot in 2012.
"Andre Ward is my friend and Anthony Dirrell is my brother, so if they meet - of course I'm going to be support my brother. Andre Ward is one hell of a fighter, but I believe that I have the game plan and the know-how to get a victory over Andre Ward, so I will pass that along to brother if they do get that fight locked," Andre Dirrell told BoxingScene.com.
"As far as me and Ward. if we would ever meet that would be great. I see us meeting somewhere down the line, jst not no time soon. Anthony Dirrell is in position to get that title and I wish him all the best. I know he can do it."
