At the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, on the undercard to Cristian Mijares-Vic Darchinyan, a super middleweight contest saw Andre Dirrell (17-0, 12KOs) stop Victor Oganov (28-2, 28KOs) in the sixth round.
Dirrell came out with a good, stiff jab as Oganov chased and tried to get inside. He got battered for his effort as Dirrell beat on him with combinations, shots to the body and uppercuts. At one point, Dirrell backed Oganov against the ropes and seemed to have fired off around thirty punches.
Oganov went back on the chase in the second, chasing and trying to catch the quicker and much taller Dirrell. In the third, a vicious combination of punches by Dirrell opened up a serious cut above the right eye of Oganov. Dirrell went back on the attack in the fourth, unloading with big punches almost at will. Oganov, after landing a low blow, started a rally of punches to close the round.
In the fifth, Oganov had a much better round, landing some effective punches, but not enough. In the sixth, Dirrell caught Oganov with some hooks at the start, sending him back into the ropes and the ref had seen enough and stopped the fight.
