Although there is no set date or venue, Ana Maria Torres is preparing to defend her super flyweight title of the World Boxing Council (WBC) for the tenth time. Under HG Boxing, a company chaired by Hector Garcia, Torres has made it clear that she wants to be the best pound for pound world champion, after two great and memorable battles with Jackie Nava. According to her promoter, something will take place in October.
On July 30 in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Ana Maria defeated Nava via unanimous decision (96-94, 96-94 and 96-94) to win the Diamond belt of the WBC [at bantamweight], something that had only been reached by Manny Pacquiao, Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez and Bernard Hopkins. Ana Maria is training under the supervision of her coach Manuel Lopez and her husband Roberto Santos.
