An Extra 200K if Juan C. Gomez Beats Virchis

ARENA-DEO Ahmet Öner may have lost the purse bid for the WBC elimination bout between Juan Carlos Gomez and Vladimir Virchis but he still believes in his man. As extra-motivation the promoter promised his fighter a win bonus.

Öner: “If Gomez beats Virchis I will pay him an extra 200,000 US-Dollar!”

This ‘bonus’ would almost double the purse as Spotlight’s winning offer at yesterday’s purse bid in Mexico City were $411,840 which are divided equally between both opponents.

Öner: “Virchis is punching harder, of course, but there’s no doubt that Gomez is the better boxer technically. If Juan keeps focussed, trains hard and gets in shape he can definitely outbox ‘The Hunter’ and beat him even on a Spotlight or Universum show.”

Öner who congratulated Universum’s managing director Stefan Braune on winning the bid will definitely watch the fight from a ringside seat.

Öner: “The WBC won’t accept any bans or bars for such a big and important fight. And I consider Universum and Spotlight to be reasonable and fair enough to let me support my fighter.”
