According to promoter Frank Warren's official website, Commonwealth lightweight champion Amir Khan (16-0, 12KOs) is either going to fight EBU lightweight champion Yuri Romanov (20-2, 13KOs), or make his debut in America if Romanov decides to go in another direction.
The bout with Romanov would fall on April 5 in Khan's hometown of Bolton. If the plan moves in the direction of an American debut, Khan would probably still fight in April, but not on the April 19 undercard to Bernard Hopkins-Joe Calzaghe.
Warren is expected to make a decision on the East-West dilemma in the next few days, after jetting to America on Sunday to hold high level talks with television executives.
"I need to talk to Amir and various other people to decide what the next step is," said Warren. "I'd love to take him to the States and show everyone over there what he's all about."
Warren is expected to make a decision on Khan's career plan in the next few days.
