Contrary to some of the reports in Argentina, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer advised BoxingScene.com that a deal has not been reached to have Amir Khan defend his WBA 140-pound title against mandatory Marcos Maidana on April 17 in Las Vegas. Schaefer asked the WBA for permission to postpone Monday's purse bid for two weeks in order to give his company more time to finalize a deal. If no deal is finalized in two weeks, the fight will head back to a purse bid. Several dates are being considered.

"We just signed Amir Khan and we are the co-promoter of Maidana. We asked the WBA for a two-week extension to give us more time. If we can't come to terms, then we still have the purse bid. The two weeks gives us more time," Schaefer told BoxingScene on Monday afternoon.
