According to promoter Frank Warren, Amir Khan and former WBO super featherweight champion Alex Arthur is likely to take place in 2009. Nicky Cook upset Arthur for the title in September. Afterwards Arthur said that his future in boxing was going to be in the lightweight division. Warren promotes both of them, which makes the fight an easy one to make.
Khan is on the comeback trail after suffering a 54-second knockout loss last September to Breidis Prescott of Colombia. Khan retained new trainer Freddie Roach and returned with a win on December 6 against Oisin Fagin.
"I think that's a fight that can happen this year," Warren said on Setanta Sports News. "I think this will be a good fight for boxing."
