WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is training tough with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California. Khan defends the title against former champion Paulie Malignaggi on May 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York. If he gets past Malignaggi, Khan is looking for some bigger names at the weight, like Victor Ortiz, Timothy Bradley and Marcos Maidana.
Khan can only hope. Ortiz is not a lock to beat Nate Campbell on the Malignaggi-Khan undercard, and most don't think Maidana has enough boxing ability to beat WBO champion Timothy Bradley on June 19. Roach sees Bradley as the toughest guy to beat at 140-pounds. He wants to keep Khan away from Bradley until it's a very big money fight.
"We've got a few names like Maidana. We've got a few names like I hear Victor Ortiz. Maybe later this year I want to fight someone like Timothy Bradley. I'm with Golden Boy now and I'm sure they will direct me to the right fights at the right time," Khan told AOL's FanHouse.
