Amir Khan has revealed that he is adding a new wrinkle to his training regime after admitting that he plans to bring a spot of yoga into his pre-fight preparations.  Khan, 23, has recently battle his way through illness and is due to be ringside at the Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz rematch in Las Vegas this weekend.  A source close to Amir told the Sunday Express that WBA light-welterweight title-holder Khan is keen to try new methods as he bids to reach the top of the 140lb division.

The source claimed that, “Amir is going to take up yoga as part of a new training regime.  He has read about the remarkable benefits it has had for other sportsmen – especially Ryan Giggs.  This is not some hippy claptrap – it is a move to make him an even better boxer and bigger star.”

The move could see Khan, 23-1 (17 early), try out the difficult ‘reverse warrior’ yoga position, although boxing fans would prefer him to take this literally and overturn his plans to fight the Marquez-Diaz winner in order to face Tim Bradley or Devon Alexander.

However, should Marquez win, a fight against the Mexican mechanic would be perfectly acceptable, especially with Alexander set to take on former Khan victim Andriy Kotelnik as the Saint Louis, Missouri citizen consolidates the IBF and WBF titles that he annexed with a stunning eighth-round stoppage win over then-IBF boss Juan Urango in March.

Devon, 20-0 (13), is in the ascendancy and with Tim Bradley testing the welterweight waters recently the division’s future could rest on a three-title showdown between Khan and Devon.
