For the second time in a month, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan has come down with a mystery illness. Only July 4th, Khan went to hospital near his home in Bolton after feeling very weak. Khan's father feared that his son was suffering from a serious virus. He went through a series of precautionary tests and was later released to go home. The doctors believe Khan was suffering the effects of working his body too hard.
On his personal twitter account, Khan wrote that he's very ill and trying to rest up in Pakistan.
"Really ill in Pakistan...got [a] bad stomach ache and headache. [I] want to vomit but just won't let me...also have a fever. I want come home. [The] doctor came around [and] told me to stay hydrated but [I don't] feel like eating or drinking. Back in bed resting up. Whatever I do, I aint going [to a] hospital," Khan wrote.
Khan is scheduled to travel to Las Vegas to attend the rematch between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz at the Mandalay Bay. Marquez, if he wins, will likely fight Khan on December 11. Depending on how Khan feels and the orders from his doctor, that trip may get canceled.
