Some interesting bits of information were revealed by Frank Warren's official site, Amir Khan's return is already set for December 6 at the NEC in Birmingham. Khan (18-1, 14KOs) suffered his first loss on Saturday night at the MEN Arena in Manchester, knocked out in one-round by undefeated Colombian puncher Breidis Prescott (20-0, 18KOs).
"I've got no excuses, the better man won," said Khan. "He caught me cold in the first round, it was just one of those fights where I got caught cold. I lost in the amateurs and came back, and I will do the same again. I am going to come back stronger. I am going to take a week off, and then work on all the mistakes. I will be back to the gym, work hard, train a lot harder and come back a totally different fighter."
As previously reported, Warren noted that Jorge Rubio, Khan's new trainer, was the one who presented Prescott as the opponent after the original opponent Derek Gainer pulled out.
"Gainer decided for whatever reason he didn't want to fight, and we were hunting around for an opponent. Jorge Rubio came up with the name of Prescott, but whoever Amir Khan fights, the buck stops with me. When he's winning, I'm a great matchmaker, when he loses it's my responsibility," Warren said.
There has been some speculation that Rubio may get fired in the aftermath of Khan's defeat, but Khan's business manager, Asif Vali, said that Amir is going to stand by Rubio: "We have got every confidence in the trainer."
Warren would reveal that he secured future options on the hot name at the moment, Prescott, and will likely promote his future fights.
"We might promoter him over, I'm not really sure yet," said Warren. "He doesn't look like a bad fighter though."
