WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is not planning to "run around" on December 11. Khan's opponent Marcos Maidana told BoxingScene.com that he expects Khan to "run around the ring" all night. Khan told BoxingScene that he plans to make it a real fight because he doesn't want a normal win. Khan wants to be very impressive to set up potential future fights in 2011, like a possible meeting with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Most insiders expect Khan to stay at a distance and box his way to a twelve round decision in order to neuralize Maidana's power. Khan says we shouldn't be surprised if he takes the fight to Maidana and keeps pushing him back with pressure.
"You might see something else in this fight. You might see me being the pressure fighter and Maidana being the fighter who goes on the backfoot. We are going to be working hard for this fight and I know exactly what to do. You are going to see something new in this fight that nobody has seen. I've spoken to Freddie [Roach] about it and I got the skills to do it," Khan said.
"I don't only want to win, but I want to win in a good style. That's the reason why so many people want to see me fight and so many people support me. I don't only want to win this fight, I want to win in a good style."
