LAS VEGAS --- There have been some salacious stories about Amir Khan in the British tabloids in recent months, but Khan said that hasn't taken his focus off his fight against Luis Collazo on Saturday night at the MGM Grand on Showtime PPV.

"Look, I never ever hardly read any of the articles," Khan said. "I focus on what I need to do. Bad press makes me want to go into the gym and train hard. It never really upsets me in that way like I'm going to give up. I'm a fighter. I have a big heart and I'm one of the fighters that wants to give 100 percent. I think it shows in the way I fight. When I'm hurt, I'll get up. I want to fight. That's the type of guy I am, That will never effect me."

All the attention he's been getting from the tabloids appears to be turning Khan into an even bigger star in the U.K.

"It's crazy," Khan said. "People in the U.K. and Europe see me as a celebrity. Whatever I do they write about it and talk about it. It's boxing that has got me this far. That's why I respect the sport, because without boxing I wouldn't be in this position. I like to keep it cool and keep my fans happy, because we have a fan base that is not just boxing fans but fans from all over the world. They might not even like boxing, so I have to keep them all happy."
