MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV- BoxingScene.com and other members of the media caught up with former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan shortly after his "Grand Arrival" ceremony at the MGM Grand to officially kick off fight week.

Khan faces the resurgent Luis Collazo in the chief support bout underneath the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana main event.  Collazo has four fights in a row since losing to Freddy Hernandez in 2011.  His most recent victory was an upset knockout of former champion Victor Ortiz that took place in January.

The 28-year-old Khan said that he was a little bit surprised at how quickly Collazo stopped Ortiz, who was coming off a long lay off after breaking his jaw.  Khan feels that the broken jaw crept into Ortiz's mind after getting caught flush and played a factor in him not beating the 10 count and getting knocked down.

"Yeah (I was a little bit surprised). I thought that Victor would probably stun him but we all know that Victor sometimes - if his heart is not in it, then he sometimes just gives up.  He is a good fighter with good power and speed but I think if you dishearten him early, and I think Collazo disheartened him - he caught him with a good shot and I think it gave him flashbacks to when he broke his jaw.  He hadn't fought since then, against Lopez.  That does effect a fighter. It plays a factor.  I am one of the few lucky ones that can deal with it and comeback from a knockout stronger," Khan told BoxingScene.com.
