Amir Khan has said he is already getting down to business in the gym as he prepares to silence 'the doubters' against Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez this summer.

The British fighter - a former super-lightweight world champion who has been fighting at the 147lb welterweight limit since 2014 - is set to take on 25-year-old Mexican in a catchweight contest at 155lbs in Las Vegas on May 7.

Eyebrows were raised by Khan's move into uncharted territory for this showdown, but he is convinced he can adapt his approach to claim the WBC crown.

Khan told Sky Sports News HQ in San Francisco: "I'm still in training. I'm at my camp now - I've got a certain style which I am focusing on which is 'Canelo-style'.

"I'm setting a game plan up on how to beat him and in the next couple of weeks I'm doing a press tour and speaking in London and then I will be going to New York and Los Angeles.

"That gives me a chance to go back home and spend some time with the the family before I go back into serious training again.

"It's going to be a massive fight for me. I am going to make history in this fight. I am fighting for the middleweight world title, and the WBC title and I really believe in myself.

"I can shut the doubters up. It's going to a tough fight, it's not going to be easy, but I really believe I have got the tools for it."
