WBA/IBF junior welterweight champion Amir Khan was an interested observer, as he watched the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Victor Ortiz pay-per-view on Saturday night. Mayweather knocked Ortiz out in the fourth round to capture the WBC welterweight title. Khan is one of the leading candidates to face Mayweather in 2012. The British star is very confident in his ability to defeat Mayweather. Khan is trained by veteran Freddie Roach.

"Mayweather is good, but I saw a lot of mistakes and weaknesses that I've never seen before. Putting together [my] skills, power and Freddie's brain will be too much for Floyd," Khan said.

Although Mayweather is still active as a fighter, he does have a promotional company and a growing stable of boxers. One of the fighters in his company, Jessie Vargas, wants a piece of Khan. Mayweather has been trying to match Vargas against Khan.

Khan was not impressed by Vargas' split decision win over Josesito Lopez, which took place on the Mayweather-Ortiz undercard. He felt Lopez did enough to win. Khan plans to face Lamont Peterson on December 10th, and then he wants to take a fight at 147 in early 2012.

"In my eyes he got beat. He didn't impress any of us. If Floyd Mayweather says that I have to fight him, I would be more than happy to move up to 147 and beat him, and then fight Floyd Mayweather next year," Khan said.
