British star Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is fresh from his twelve round decision victory over Chris Algieri from last Friday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Mayweather is planning to return on September 12th, and claims that ring appearance will the final fight of his pro career. Khan has already made it clear, on national television, that his schedule has no roadblocks to face Mayweather in September.

If Mayweather falls through, as was the case on at least two occasions in the past, Khan is going to explore other options.

One of those options, which Khan first mentioned several months ago, is WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs), who defends his belt against Daniel Geale this coming Saturday night in Brooklyn.

Khan's team members had inquired about the possibility of facing Cotto in May, but the Puerto Rican champion had no interest in fighting prior to June.

A fight with Cotto would have take place at a catch-weight, likely at 154-pounds.

"There are other options out there for me. I would love to fight Miguel Cotto. Stylistically, he would be a good opponent for me and would suit me," Khan said to Bolton News.

Khan is also open to the idea of fighting Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Unlike Cotto, Khan is not looking to face Canelo any time soon. He sees Cotto as a small junior middleweight/middleweight, but views Canelo in a different light.

"Saul Alvarez is another big name I could fight. But he fights at 154 and maybe that is something for me towards the end of my career when I am bigger," Khan said.
