WBA junior welterweight champion told Telegraph Sport that he plans to leave for the Philippines for three weeks to training with Freddie Roach and WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. Khan will be preparing for the biggest fight of his career, taking place on December 4 against Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas. Pacquiao faces Antonio Margarito on November 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.
Roach wants Khan nearby to avoid any issues making weight by working with training and conditioning expert Alex Ariza. Khan will be in Texas for fight week. Roach is going to alternate training sessions between the two fighters on a daily basis. Roach's other fighters, Vanes Martirosyan and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., will also be in the Philippines to train with them.
"I get so much from working alongside Manny. We never fight over Freddie's attention. Tell me if there's a better place to be than with the world's best trainer and the world's best boxer. I learn so much from rubbing shoulders with Manny and I genuinely admire him."
