NOTTINGHAM, England - It only took Amir Khan (14-0, 11KOs) four rounds to go right through challenger Scott Lawton to retain his Commonwealth lightweight title.

Khan had little to no trouble with Lawton, who could not get off with his punches and didn't have the power to hurt or push Khan back. Khan stepped up the pace in fourth round, unloading with his power punches as a helpless Lawton was unable to stay away from the shots or answer back, forcing referee Victor Loughran to stop the fight with 30-seconds remaining in the round.

"I had a lot of critics from the last fight, but that's boxing," Khan said. "It's a learning curve. I proved a lot of my critics wrong. I'm a better fighter, and boxing's going right for me now. I'm going in the right direction."

Yesterday at York Hall, Jon Thaxton (33-7, 18KOs) stopped Dave Stewart (20-2, 5KOs) in an eliminator to become the mandatory to face Khan.
