UK lightweight sensation Amir Khan has blasted former trainer Oliver Harrison. Khan went to town on his former friend after learning that Harrison is helping Michael Gomez prepare for their Saturday bout in Birmingham. Two-months ago, Harrison was let go by Khan. The former trainer never saw the pink slip coming. The reason for the dismissal was based on Khan's desire to hook up with an American-based trainer and some internal problems in the way he was being trained.
Khan says Oliver did not teach him anything in terms of defense. He's been working with camp member Dean Powell on a temporary basis. He promised to knock Gomez out to show the world that Oliver is not that good of a trainer.
"You lose respect for a coach when that happens because it is only two months since he split with me," said Khan. "Top coaches would never do that so it shows what kind of person he is. To have someone like Oliver telling Gomez tips is fine. I didn't learn anything from Oliver in the way of defense. There are things I'm working on with Dean now that I really should have done in my first five fights."
"At the end of the day, Oliver is a coach and he is allowed to coach anyone. But we will see how good a coach he is on Saturday night when Michael Gomez gets knocked out."
