British star Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is training with his eye on returning on a date in March.

The former champion has been inactive since a May 2015 decision win over Chris Algieri. Khan spent a better part of 2015 attempting to get Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the ring for September, but that fell through when Mayweather picked Andre Berto.

"I'm training for the end of March. That's when I want to fight next. The opponent, we're looking at a few names at the moment," Khan told Sy Ahmed in a video interview.

Khan is hoping to get the fight in March and then bounce back to a summer fight against the winner of this Saturday's welterweight clash between Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero.

The Garcia-Guerrero bout will have the vacant WBC championship at stake. The sanctioning body has ordered the winner to make a mandatory defense against Khan.

Khan has been gunning for a second crack at Garcia since getting knocked out in four rounds by the Philadelphia fighter in 2012. While he hopes to get Garcia in the ring, he wants whoever is holding that belt at the end.

"Danny Garcia is fighting for the WBC title even though I'm [ranked as] number one. He's number two and he's fighting for it. It gives me a chance to win the title and get that rematch against him which I've been looking for - for a long, long time. Hopefully the Danny Garcia rematch is something that can happen this summer. Whoever wins that in Guerrero-Garcia, I'll fight them," Khan said.

With Khan looking to get the Garcia-Guerrero winner in the summer, that could crumble the plans of promoter Eddie Hearn, who was hoping to get Khan in the ring with IBF champion Kell Brook for a huge British cracker in the summer. Hearn, who admits the negotiations are difficult, is actively speaking with Khan's team.
