The Guardian reports that UK superstar Amir Khan, 21, has dumped his trainer of three-years, Oliver Harrison. Khan, one of the top prospects in the sport, had been working with Harrison since before his final amateur fight, when he got revenge by beating Mario Kindelan, who beat him in the 2004 Olympic lightweight final.
No word on what led to the split. Khan had recently traveled to Las Vegas to support Joe Calzaghe as he won a split-decision over Bernard Hopkins. During his brief stay in the States, Khan trained with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Khan told reporters that Mayweather gave him a lot of helpful advice on his career. Khan is said to be interested in hiring an American trainer to guide the rest of his career. Harrison is bound by a gag order that prevents him from discussing his dealings with Khan.
