New York, NY- While thanking his team, his manager Al Haymon, and his former promoter Oscar De La Hoya - Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) was swarmed by fans and media during a three city promotional tour to hype up his upcoming pay-per-view fight with WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs).

The fight takes place on May 7th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The odds are heavily against Khan because of his past issues with taking a punch and because he has never fought above 147. Khan has been knocked out at 135 pounds and a 140 pounds but says a move to the catch weight of 155 might be what his body needs.

“I been in training camp getting my strength and conditioning for the last 6 weeks,” Khan told the media. “I may have been big for the 147 division. I feel great so maybe I been killing myself making 147 so I think time will tell. Maybe Amir Khan is meant to be a middleweight.”

Khan says his skill and quickness will be the key in fighting Canelo.

“I am fighting a great fighter in Alvarez who has fought the best, stated Khan. “Oscar said to me what you think of the Canelo fight?  I said the skills and speed I have and power I’m going to be keeping, I can win this fight.”

Though it is Cinco de Mayo and the crowd favorite will likely be Canelo on the Mexican American holiday, Khan says that his loyal fans from the UK will make the trip to even out the crowd.

"Come May 7th in Las Vegas, Great Britain is going to come and take over. We’re both in our prime. We both want to fight the best. I’m going to win the middleweight world title come May 7th," Khan said."
