World class fighter Amir Khan is backing Carl Frampton to become a world champion and a superstar in the sport. Later tonight Frampton will collide with former champ Hugo Cazares in a WBC final super bantamweight eliminator at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast. The winner will become the mandatory challenger to undefeated WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz.
Khan told News Letter: "I think Carl is a very talented fighter who will one day become a world champion. He’s very exciting and has progressed really well over the last year or so and he is just getting better and better,” Khan said.
“His win over Kiko Martinez was impressive and I thought he really looked the part that night against a guy who went on to be a World Champion. After the Cazares fight, a showdown with WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz would be a brilliant one for him. Santa Cruz is a great fighter and the two of them meeting would be a great fight,” added Khan.
