It’s been a disappointing year for former world champion Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs), both in and out of the ring.
His planned fight against eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao was called off in April, after the investors were unable to come up with the money to stage the contest in UAE. Pacquiao would then instead face Jeff Horn in Australia, and the Filipino superstar was upset.
Then his family altercations became public and headlines news in gossip columns. And to make matters worse, he parted ways with his wife Faryal Makhdoom after accusing her of cheating on him with heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Khan and his wife, who is pregnant with their second child, are now going through a divorce.
But, the British boxing star is looking to put all the ‘wrongdoings’ behind as took to his official Instagram account to apologise for being inactive in the ring, vowing to make a comeback soon.
Khan has been out of the ring since moving up to 155-pounds and suffering a knockout loss in six rounds at the hands of Canelo Alvarez in May of 2016. That contest headlined the first ever boxing event to take place at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
"Can’t wait to get back in the ring, where I belong. I apologise to all my fans for not being active for a year. I want this more than anyone. Time to make my comeback, right to the top where I belong. A lot has happened in my life and it’s time I put everything behind me. I apologise to everyone for all the wrongdoings, time to move on and do what I do best," Khan stated his followers.
The 30-year-old Khan, a former two-time world champion, was expected to make a return to the ring by the end of the year, but now it appears that he might be coming back in early 2018.
