Helsinki, Finland - Former EBU middleweight champ Amin Asikainen stopped Mexican
veteran and former IBF jr. middleweight ruler Yori Boy Campas at 0.56 of the seventh in a hardfought scheduled non-title ten rounder that headlined P 3 Boxing´s show at a sold out Kiisa Hall.
Asikainen landed with a short right and Campas all of a sudden fell apart, backed into the ropes and the Finn opened up. With nothing coming back from the Mexican, who seemed out on his feet, referee Erkki Meronen had no option but to stop it.
Campas protested but had no legs under him. After six Asikainen was ahead by 58-56, 60-56 and 58-57. The still tough Campas had his moments and shook Asikainen in the fourth. But overall the bigger, physically stronger Finn seemed to be in control after six of a very good fight.
In the chief support Russian jr. welterweight Denis Shafikov stopped his compatriot Sergey Savrinovics on a fourth round TKO, lightweight Ville Piispanen outscored Dutchman Richard Asare over six.
Norwegian jr. lightweight Andreas Evensen won a close decision over Spaniard Alex Bone Palma over six. It could have gone either way.
