Three weeks after seeing her mixed martial arts fight scheduled in Puerto Rico get postponed due to an earthquake, Amanda Serrano put on her boxing gloves last Thursday and scored a three-round technical knockout victory over Brazil's Simone de Silva as part of the Miami card that was showcased by DAZN.

With the victory Serrano (39-1-1, 29 KOs) did her part to set the stage for a long-awaited showdown with superstar Katie Taylor.

"I feel very happy. It was a fight that was done quickly, but that was exactly what I wanted. Although the fight happened at the last minute, I was working for the MMA match that later fell out. But I needed fight so that all the work was not in vain," Serrano said to Roberto Colon.

Serrano, who has been champion in seven divisions, had a relatively short night as she knocked down De Silva (17-16, 6 KOs) at the end of the second round and then at 53 seconds of the third, before the referee stopped the fight due to the heavy punishment the Brazilian received.

After the win, the focus immediately shifted to the possible clash against Taylor, that could be staged this coming April.

"I think that fight is going to take place. Next week we will start talking about that fight," Serrano said.

For his part, her manager, Jordan Maldonado, said they would like to face Taylor in her backyard.

"We are going to do the negotiations, but that fight with Katie Taylor is already done for April. We only have to meet next week to see if it will be in Madison Square Garden or in England. But wherever it is, we will be there. We are more interested in going to England because we have never gone there and we want to be in a place where there are many people. Because she (Taylor) lives near England, she will bring many more people than if it were in New York," Maldonado said.
