Junior middleweight prospect Alfredo Angulo (14-0, 11KOs) is ready to become a top contender when he meets veteran and former two-division champion Ricardo Mayorga (28-7, 22KOs) on February 14 with HBO televising. Angulo, speaking with BoxingScene.com's Brent Matteo Alderson, said Mayorga is still a very dangerous fighter and one that any boxer has to watch out for because of his unpredictable style. He expects a high contact fight with Mayorga.

"Mayorga is a good fighter. I'm glad he accepted the fight. I'm happy about the fight. Mayorga is a good fighter and I'm exciting that the fight is going to come off. I think it's a good matchup. I takes a lot of heart to walk in the ring. Anyone who walks in the ring is dangerous, especially this guy because everyone thinks he's crazy. When we get in the ring - there is going to be fireworks," Angulo said.

Angulo told BoxingScene that he plans to stay at junior middleweight for a long time, unless a big money fight comes along at middleweight and that might prompt him to move up in weight. Angulo is ranked at 3 by the WBC, with Mayorga at number 4. With De La Hoya ranked at number 1 and Mosley ranked at 2 - the winner will be upped for a shot at Vernon Forrest's title.

"It's my natural weight. It's the weight I want to continue my career. It's natural for me. I want to stay at this weight and I plan to continue to be at 154 throughout my career, unless a big fight came along and then I would move up, but I'm a 154-pounder and where I'm going to continue to fight," Angulo said.
