Nido Sport Center, Mexicali, Baja California - In his first fight in over a year, junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo (20-1, 17KOs) knocked out Joseph Gomez (17-5-1, 8KOs) in the first round to capture the vacant WBC Continental Americas light middleweight title.

Early in the second minute of the first round, a barrage of punches sent Gomez down and he stayed down. It didn't appear as if anything landed too clean and the crowd wasn't happy with the outcome. A replay showed two shots to the body and glancing blow to the head. Nothing too clean, but it was enough for Gomez to call it a day.
