Nicaraguan boxer Jose Alfaro is heading off to Moscow with a lot of confidence, viewing his upcoming fight as the first step to become a world champion again. That's an idea that motivates him daily. He knows the road is not easy, but he will have to overcome a tough test on Friday October 24, when he faces Russian boxer Eduard Troyanovsky, for the intercontinental lightweight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
It will be a demanding commitment to Alfaro. Troyanovsky has a record of 18-0 with 15 knockouts. He is emerging as one of the best examples of Russian boxing today, but that does not intimidate the Nicaraguan former world champion.
"My return to boxing is strong, because I worked hard on my homework. I was warned ahead of time and I'm in great physical condition for this challenge," said Alfaro. "I'm going with the ideal boxer to be crowned again. Troyanovsky is the ideal fighter to win the regional title, rank well and then go for the WBO world title fight held by Terrence Crawford. I'll throw it all. I think I still have the time to continue in the big leagues of boxing and I will not miss this great opportunity because I worked hard to get that title back to Nicaragua."
