According to the Associated Press, one of two men suspected in the 2013 beating death of 17-year-old amateur boxer Alexis Urbina-Ochoa has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Maricopa County prosecutors, in Phoenix, say 24-year-old Joseph Jesse Corrales entered his plea Monday. Urbina won a USA Youth Boxing National title in 2013 and was training for the 2016 Olympics
Corrales and 23-year-old Robert Chavez were arrested in connection with Urbina's death. The boxer'se bloody body was found in his home. The suspects, both gang members, were arrested in November 2013 after investigators were tipped off that they allegedly were selling items stolen from Urbina's home. Corrales and Chavez originally were charged with first-degree murder, second-degree burglary and trafficking in stolen property.
