Bulgarian middleweight Alexey "Fish" Ribchev (8-2, 3 KOs), who has recently gained some moderate attention from European boxing community, continued his way up in ranks at Dunav Hall in Rousse, Bulgaria, with a convincing ten-round unanimous decision over Latvian upset artist Jurijs Boreiko (13-23-1, 10 KOs).
"The fight was very clean, and both fighters made up for an impressive ten-rounder. Ribchev was dictating a very high tempo and pushed Boreiko to the ropes almost every round but he has never been down. Both fighters did their best to win, but Ribchev was obviously the better of two," reported Vasko Vasilev, promoter of the event.
Official scorecards read as follows: 100-90 (x2) and 99-91. Ribchev became the so-called UBO International middleweight champion in addition to currently owned Bulgarian super middleweight title. He is best known for his spirited and somewhat dubious loss to German prospect Jack Culcay-Keth and an upset decision on the road over Swiss-based Spaniard Blas Miguel Martinez.
