Kevin Cunningham, trainer/manager of WBC and IBF junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander "The Great" reached out to BoxingScene.com to express his opinion on a potential Alexander versus Marcos Maidana clash in July. As previously reported, Team Alexander have their eye on a fight with Zab Judah. If that option falls apart, HBO would probably want to match them with the winner of Maidana's upcoming fight with Victor Cayo on March 27.

Apparently the Maidana/Cayo option is news to Team Alexander.

Cunningham said - "I know we are talking about fighting Judah.  Isn't Maidana Amir Khan's mandatory?  Everybody knows Khan is running from Maidana.  If we need to do Khan's dirty work then we better be compensated accordingly.  We aren't afraid to fight anybody but we need to be paid right, period."

Team Alexander is still enjoying last Saturday's thrashing of former IBF champion Juan Urango.  They plan on hitting the gym soon to prepare for a summer ring return.
