BoxingScene.com has been advised that the Devon Alexander-Lucas Matthysse "Redemption" fight is officially set. Devon Alexander's first step towards redemption will take place at The Family Arena which is located 20 miles from downtown St. Louis. This will be the former IBF/WBC junior welterweight champion's first fight since a technical decision loss to Tim Bradley in January. Alexander was unable to finish the fight after suffering multiple headbutts.
Alexander-Matthysse takes place on June 25th and will be broadcast on HBO. Matthysse last appeared on the premium network when he lost a split decision to Zab Judah last November. Harold Lederman, the official ringside scorer for HBO, had Matthysse winning that fight 114-113. After that loss, Matthysse faced former world champion DeMarcus Corley and knocked him down 8 times before scoring a TKO victory.
St. Louis is known as a great fight town and all 11,500 seats at The Family Arena are expected to be filled. Alexander drew 10,000 fans to his last fight in St. Louis when he defeated Andriy Kotelnik via unanimous decision.
