At Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, IBF heavyweight mandatory contender Alexander Povetkin (18-0, 13 KOs) stopped Leo Nolan (27-2, 10 KOs) in three rounds. Povetkin showed some of the tricks that his new trainer, Teddy Atlas, taught him.
Povetkin was quicker, stronger and landed crisper punches to work Nolan over in the first two rounds. During the third round action, Povetkin began to pour on the damage with power shots from both hands. He dropped Nolan with a hard combination and finished him off a moment later.
Povetkin will now target a shot at IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2010.
