The manager for unbeaten Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin, Vladimir Hryunov, said his fighter will take part in two matches before the end of the year. Hryunov says the first opponent will be announced very soon and the fight has a high probability of taking place in Germany. The opponent will be selected from a batch of recognizable heavyweight contenders.

Povetkin was going to fight WBO/IBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko on September 11. Due to several issues, including the death of Povetkin's father and a dispute over certain contract details, the IBF allowed Klitschko to replace Povetkin with [IBF #2] Samuel Peter.
