During an interview with The Mirror, IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander dismissed Kell Brook as 'nothing special' and expects to outclass the Sheffield fighter in their world title fight. Brook boasts an unbeaten record and his string of victories have earned him a crack at Alexander in a Showtime televised fight on February 23rd in Detroit.
The 26-year-old is nicknamed 'Special K', but Alexander has seen little star quality in his challenger as he prepares for the first defence of the belt he won against Randall Bailey in October.
"I've watched the tapes of his fights," he told the Daily Mirror. "My coach studied the tapes too and we don't see anything special. He's a tough fighter, a tough kid, but we'll be ready. He's good, he's hungry, he's young, just like me. But he doesn't have the tools I have to beat me. My skills are way better. He's just like another Junior Witter, but he doesn't move as much and he's not as wild. In his career, he hasn't fought anybody like me."
Alexander beat Witter to claim the WBC junior welterweight title in 2009.
