Devon Alexander (23-1, 13KOs) is in the final stages of his training camp for his September 8th fight against IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey (43-7, 37KOs).
The fight was originally slated to take place in Memphis, TN after Bailey balked at fighting in Alexander's hometown of St. Louis where he consistently draws big crowds. Scheduling conflicts forced the fight out of Memphis and after a few weeks of searching for a new venue it finally landed at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
This will be Alexander's first fight in Las Vegas and he is excited to finally have the opportunity to fight in Sin City.
"I'm excited to fight in Vegas. I think every fighter dreams of fighting in Las Vegas. To me Las Vegas is the fight capitol of the world," Alexander stated.
The former unified junior welterweight champion feels that the winner of the fight will have a good shot at landing a big in the future and possibly a showdown against pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"I think that the winner of this fight will be in a good position to fight Mayweather. You never know what is going to happen but yes I think the winner will be in a very good position," Alexander told BoxingScene.com.
