Alejandro "Alex" Valdez (21-4-3, 15KOs) is planning the next fight of his career. After losing by knockout last December to WBA interim-bantamweight champion Nehomar Cermeño. He was hospitalized after the fight with a head injury. Valdez took some time off but now plans to continue his career in the super bantamweight division.

While largely unreported, Valdez returned last Saturday against Victoriano Núñez in Culiacán. Valdez battered him until the ref stopped the action in the fifth round. Valdez showed that the eight months of inactivity did not affect his debut in the super bantamweight division. He was strong and very fast, with great movement of his waist and legs, and displayed violent attacks on his opponent.

"I have been preparing for three months physically and mentally. At the same time the doctors gave me the okay to continue my career in boxing. I thank God that things went great in my return to the ring and hope to continue fighting each month and in a short future return to the limelight," said Valdez.
