Edinburgh’s ‘Amazing’ Alex Arthur has received a double boost as he bids to get his career back on track.  Alex’s father, Alex Senior, is making a full recovery from swine flu, the boxer has also revealed that his training set-up has come full circle with the appointment of Peter Harrison, who guided Alex during the early days of his pro career.

“I felt my professional relationship with [former trainer] Terry McCormack had run its full course and I, too, needed a change of coach and cornerman.  Even though I'm going back to Peter Harrison I think it's a great move for me,” confirmed Alex when speaking to the Edinburgh News.

“Peter's great record with his son [former WBO featherweight champion] Scott proves that he is the right guy to be in my corner when I make my push for another world title shot.

“And I've been further boosted by the fact my dad Alex is making a great recovery from the combined swine flu and pneumonia-type illness that laid him low over Christmas.  He is now back home with my mother.  My mind is now clear of that great worry so I can hopefully start to resume training again soon.”

The former WBO super-featherweight title-holder has endured mixed fortunes since losing his title to Nicky Cook in 2009.  A points defeat to Nigel Wright up at light-welterweight in December 2009 was a massive blow for Arthur, he is now campaigning at lightweight.

Decision wins over Peter McDonagh and Jay Morris kept ‘Amazing’, 29-3 (20), relatively busy during the latter half of 2010 but the clock is ticking on the 32-year-old former British, Commonwealth and European super-featherweight king.
