BoxingScene.com was informed that former junior middleweight champion Joachim Alcine (32-1, 19KOs) has signed a co-promotional agreement with Don King. Alcine will still be promoted by Yvon Michel of Canadian-based GYM. Alcine has won two in a row since losing by way of knockout to Daniel Santos in 2008. He wants to fight the winner of the Cory Spinks-Cornelius Bundrage, scheduled for the IBF 154-pound title on March 26. King promotes Spinks and Bundrage, which paints the picture on Alcine's decision.
Heavyweight contender Fres Oquendo (32-5, 21KOs) is reportedly heading to Square Ring, the promotional company owned by Roy Jones Jr. Oquendo has gone 8-2 since a 2004 knockout loss to John Ruiz. The two defeats, to Evander Holyfield and James Toney, were fights where most people felt the judges should have scored it for Oquendo.
