Eye of the Tiger ManagementLight heavyweight star Albert Ramirez will face Lerrone Richards in defense of his WBA interim title on February 5 at the Montreal Casino in Canada.
“The Sniper” Richards, from London, is 19-1 (4 KOs) and a southpaw who is trained by Dave Coldwell in England.
Venezuelan Ramirez is 22-0 (19 KOs) and is coming off a victory over Jerome Pampellone in Libya last year.
“Richards is a fighter who has long been avoided, both on the British and the world scene,” said Ramirez’s manager, Karim Bouzidi of Versus Sports Management. “But when you work as hard as Albert Ramirez does, and you have his mindset, you don’t turn down any challenge. It will be quite a fight, but this first title defense is only the beginning of a great story for Albert.”
Also on the bill, Belarus’ two-time Olympian Dzmitry Asanau – who is 11-0 (5 KOs) and fights out of Dubai – faces Argentine contender Claudio Gabriel Daneff, who is 24-4-1 (11 KOs) and, in a clash of undefeated light heavyweight prospects, Marc Ramsay-trained Mehmet Unal, 14-0 (12 KOs) faces Kosovan Altin Zogaj, 17-0 (9 KOs).
Rounding off the bill, Thomas Chabot, 11-1 (7 KOs), has been paired with Dominic Babineau, 13-2-1 (11 KOs) over 10 rounds.
At lightweight, Canadian Olympic medalist Wyatt Sanford – now 5-0 (2 KOs) – meets Alexis Gabriel Camejo, 10-5-2 (1 KO) over six rounds.
Junior lightweight hope Erik Israyelyan, 4-0 (2 KOs), steps up to six rounds against Frenchmen Anthony Deloffre, 9-4-1, while, in a four-rounder at 175lbs, Montrealer and former member of Canada’s national team Keven Beausejour, 1-0 (1 KO) makes his Quebec debut against Czech Petr Strnad, 4-3-2 (2 KOs).
