Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer advised BoxingScene.com that WBC lightweight champion Adrien "The Problem" Broner (26-0, 22KOs) will return on an HBO televised date of June 15th. Schaefer has placed the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on hold. Broner retained his WBC title for the first time on February 16th, with a fifth round TKO of Gavin Rees.

Broner's preferred opponent for the slot is obviously WBO champion Ricky Burns. If Burns is able to get past IBF champion Miguel Vazquez (33-3, 13KOs) on March 16th, then Schaefer will attempt to make the fight. If the fight can't be made, Schaefer doesn't rule out the possibility of Broner moving up in weight.

"As it relates to the opponent, I believe Ricky Burns is the preferred opponent - but we have to see what's going to happen [in Burn's next fight], I think he's going to be fighting in a couple of weeks and we'll take it from there," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.
