Adrien Broner: DeMarco Can Be Next, Marquez After That

Adrien Broner (24-0, 20KOs) dominated and stopped Vicente Escobedo (26-4) in five rounds at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Broner was a little upset that he didn't get a chance to knock Escobedo out. As he was battering Escobedo against the ropes, Escobedo's corner threw in the towel.

"It just shows good fighters and elite fighters don't mix," Broner told BoxingScene.com. "I didn't really get done what I wanted to do, but I did what I had to do to get the victory. I'm going to go home and watch the tape and see what mistakes I made."

Stephanie Han Wants Katie Taylor’s Final Fight + Talks Holly Holm Rematch

Broner is now moving up to the lightweight division. He wants to face WBC champion Antonio DeMarco next, and then WBO junior welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez - likely at a catch-weight.

"I'm going up to lightweight. Like they say, guys like me don't come around for decades and decades. My training ethic, I can really do what I want in the sport, as long as I stayed disciplined and loyal to the sport," Broner said.

"Now we're moving on. The task will only get bigger from here. We're going to lightweight to give all of them hell. DeMarco can be next, Marquez after that...[Brandon] Rios. Anyone can get it."
