As BoxingScene.com previously reported, WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (28-1, 23 KOs) will not face Sean Monaghan (28-1, 17 KOs) on April 29 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The fight is being pushed back, and the event promoters Yvon Michel of GYM and Lou DiBella of DiBella Entertainment, are waiting to receive the official word from Premier Boxing Champions.

There has been some talk of May 27 being mentioned as the potential new date.

Michel, and his fighter Stevenson, are getting very impatient with the entire situation.

"The whole card is ready. The posters are ready. The tickets are ready to go on sale. We're just to receive the word go," said Michel to RDS. "But if we do not get it this week, it's going to be ridiculous."

"For Adonis, it's not very nice not to know what's going on. He is having trouble staying patient. If he does not fight in April, he will do it in May or June. But it is certain that he will fight before the end of the summer. That said, it forces us to reorganize [for this event and going forward]."

At present, PBC has only announced four televised events through the end of May, but only two of them are major shows. In the past few weeks, some media outlets have reported that PBC is experiencing some significant financial hardship and several boxers were unhappy.

Stevenson has been out of the ring since last July, when he knocked out Thomas Williams Jr. in four rounds in Quebec City. It was Stevenson's only fight of 2016. After his next fight, he has a mandatory defense due to undefeated stablemate Eleider Alvarez, who recently knocked out former world champion Lucian Bute in a WBC final eliminator. That defense is expected to take place in the fall.
