WBC light heavyweight titlist Adonis Stevenson (28-1, 23 KOs) fought just once this past year (a fourth round TKO of Thomas Williams on July 29). His promoter, Yvon Michel, is hoping that the public will see more of him in 2017.

"We plan on fighting maybe three times," the head of GYM told BoxingScene.com. "But the first fight is scheduled at the end of April and then tentatively maybe June or September but we're not too sure. We'll go one fight at a time. What we would like to do is get in three fights this year."

As for who 'Superman' will face first, Michel explained that the winner between the upcoming bout between Lucian Bute and Eleider Alvarez would most likely be in line to land the assignment. Bute-Alvarez is scheduled for February 24th in Quebec City.

Stevenson has spoken of facing Andre Ward, who know holds the three other major belts in the 175-pound division after his controversial victory over Sergey Kovalev on November 19th.

"Look, first we all know that Ward has to give Kovalev a rematch. So we'll see how this will play out but definitely if there is an opening somewhere, no matter who wins the rematch, Adonis has always planned to unify the title," explained Michel, who also is well aware of the politics in play here.

"But in six  months so many things can change so we'll see how it will be. But for the moment Adonis will aim for Andre Ward. He believes he beat Kovalev and is the guy to beat there. If Kovalev wins then he'll aim for Kovalev."
