Former amateur prospect, junior welterweight Adones Cabalquinto who recently quit the national pool will make his professional debut at the city plaza of Mandaue City this Saturday in a six round bout against Alde Sosa.
Cabalquinto had even impressed celebrated coach Freddie Roach who gave him his calling card and asked him to get in touch with him in case he decided to turn pro was reportedly impressed with his ability when he saw Cabalquinto work out while Pacquiao was training for the Miguel Cotto fight in Baguio City.
Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines executive director Ed Picson earlier told us that Cabalquinto and another boxer Welbhert Loberanis had left the training pool because of a delay in the release of their allowances for a couple of months by the Philippine Sports Commission headed by chairman Harry Angping.
However, we understand that the issue has been resolved and the PSC chairman has promised to have the boxers allowances released although its too late as the talented Cabalquinto, one of the fighters in the heavier weight divisions in particular is ready to fight on a card promoted by Sammy Gello-ani this Saturday.
