Sources close to the situation have advised BoxingScene.com that a rematch between heavyweights Tomasz Adamek and Chris Arreola is being kicked around. In one of the more exciting heavyweight fights in a very long time, Adamek won a twelve round majority decision over Arreola two weeks ago at Citizens Business Bank Arena in California.
Adamek's side is open to the possibility of a rematch, but the fight will have to take place in Adamek's adopted home of New Jersey at the Prudential Center in
Newark. The likelihood of a rematch with Arreola taking place is dependent on Adamek's inability to secure a title shot opportunity.
Strategically, Adamek's side will probably sit back and wait for the outcome of the ongoing negotiations between champions Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye. If the two champions are unable to reach a deal for a fall unification, Adamek becomes a serious possibility for both fighters. HBO is a very interested in a rematch between Adamek and Arreola. If everything falls into place, the rematch would probably land in the late fall or early winter.
